I don't have anything against facebook! It's let me get properly reacquainted with dozens and dozens of old classmates scattered all over the world, and a few of those have gone on to become good friends rather than just facebook "friends". Furthermore, it's done a lot to satisfy my (and probably millions of other people's

) curiosity about "what happened to that weird kid with the runny nose I went to third grade with?"

It's also a very undemanding way to keep in touch, like, on my own terms.
Finally, at uni, it's used very frequently to keep everyone updated on upcoming events and stuff. Nice for me, 'cause I'm extremely disorganised and forgetful.
My definition of a "friend" on facebook is "someone I've hung out with and wouldn't mind hanging out with again". It doesn't have to be particularly deep, it's not like it's gonna devalue friendship in my life or something.
