I don't have anything against facebook! It's let me get properly reacquainted with dozens and dozens of old classmates scattered all over the world, and a few of those have gone on to become good friends rather than just facebook "friends". Furthermore, it's done a lot to satisfy my (and probably millions of other people's :o) curiosity about "what happened to that weird kid with the runny nose I went to third grade with?" :P

It's also a very undemanding way to keep in touch, like, on my own terms.

Finally, at uni, it's used very frequently to keep everyone updated on upcoming events and stuff. Nice for me, 'cause I'm extremely disorganised and forgetful.

My definition of a "friend" on facebook is "someone I've hung out with and wouldn't mind hanging out with again". It doesn't have to be particularly deep, it's not like it's gonna devalue friendship in my life or something.
Sometimes I think, sometimes I am

People are a waste of time for the most part and the sooner you realize that and accept that the better.

Mythrandir is the new rille.
It is believed Stalin is directly responsible for personally shooting, cooking and consuming as many as 230 million Soviet people.

This. Pretty much the main reason I have got a Facebook account. I want to be able to keep in touch with uni friends at times (to organise shit or just to talk about a recent class etc.) but I sure as hell don't want them mucking up my IM or e-mail with constant chat requests.

Not to mention that it's helped me locate at least five people who were good friends, but who I had completely lost track of since a few years back due to jobs, studies, prison sentences (yes, sadly :()...

I use it mainly to find people who I've lost total track of, to help me organise and remember planned events, and to stay in touch with those of you who are too damn far away to just pick up the phone :p

I also use email to do so, and IM, but Facebook is another useful tool in the quest to maintain contact with interesting people who I would otherwise lose touch with.

Facebook is less imposing than email or IM. Plus I can look at photos of LK's "Weenit" in my news feed.

Installing new programs is too hard for that crowd.

This is Web 2.0, you've gotta have your apps *in* the browser itself like http://www.meebo.com

Although it is handy for setting up in-browser webcam sessions.

Yeah, meebo rocks, it's usually accessible from place where standard IM programs are filtered...

"IRC: Use it, Motherfuckers."

The best! ;-)

How about snapchat etc?
I really miss messenger, for some reason it dominated over icq. Could have been the mail integration.

I was happy to see that MoP is still around :)
I know there are a few others around but it's up to them if they want to be seen or not.

Maybe send something nasty in a snail mail package too!

Rick, Hayley and Nasojit... idle on irc but are very anonymous here.

Gohlem? :) My memory is sort of crappy...
Still waking up from the FB dream... ...and this they call real life etc. (like this is not *g*)

I expect alot of people to ignore the forum, I'll leave it up to you to hunt down people if you really want them back, I'll send news letter now and then but I still havn't implemented any relay smtp service. (there are some free ones, then some starting at $40 a month). It's probably a must to not be marked as spam. :) If we get enough users etc. I promise to pay for better service etc. Right now this is enough ;-)

Don't know if he even has the same e-mail. I'll ask him on messenger when he is around again. Perhaps in a month or so. :p
