Well, i finally got around to reading some of the stuff on www.newamericancentury.org, and quite honestly i am sortof impressed.

The ideas there are very well thought out, well presented and fairly consistent.

Still, there seems to be a general cynism behind the proposed policies, especially when it comes to diplomacy and cooperation.

What i got from this site was the feeling that the policies that are being proposed (and indeed executed by now) are ultimately practical, and workable. But there is no (to me) visible attempt at making hte world a structurally better place. No attempt at making cooperation, multilateralism, and negotiation the primary tools of statecraft.
Instead the choice seems to be for guns.

Now, i know that i'm somewhat of an idealist. Eurotrash idealist, if i remember the phrase correctly ;) But i think that a slightly stronger sense of idealism in those ideas would be desireable.

Has anybody else read this site?
If so, what are your opinions?

Ideally, idealism regarding those ideals would be ideal.
